EXTRAORDINARY

At first glance, the instrumentation of the trio.s is extraordinary. In contrast to the usual practice, it is not a high and a low voice that meet on the piano, but two warm, deep female voices, Susan Jebrini, mezzo-soprano, and Sonja Catalano, alto, that merge with the accordion, from which Goran Stevanovic elicits the most diverse levels of emotion. In addition to the musical abilities of the three musicians, other influences from the lives of the artists combine to form the "trio.s package". The focus is to generate ever new concert experiences and to overcome and break down thresholds between the music and the recipient.

ON THE WAY

Founded in 2015, the ensemble trio.s won 1st prize at the Festival Klassik in der Altstadt 2016 and a 1st prize at the International Open Accordion Contest 2017 in Trossingen. From 2015 to 2019 they were scholarship holders* at Live Music Now Hannover e.V..
Numerous concerts have taken them throughout Germany, including appearances at the NDR Musikfest, Fete de la Musique, Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung, HAZ Christmas Gala, Sunday Concert in the Herrenhäuser Gardens, Johann Georg Zimmermann Award of the MHH, Lower Saxony House Music Day and Rittergut Orr. In 2021, the trio received the scholarship of the German Music Council -Neustart Kultur Klassik and was the winner of the #LIEDINNOVATION competition of the Rhone Festival in 2022 with melaTONin.

MUSIC

The trio.s classical repertoire is wide-ranging. In addition to opera, new music and improvisations, the first original compositions for the unusual instrumentation consisting of mezzo-soprano, alto and accordion were created in recent years. However, the special love of the three musicians is for art and folk songs, whereby the low vocal ranges of the two singers require them to break new ground. Arranging original monophonic songs for two voices has become the focus of the musical work of the versatile trio and, in combination with contemporary works, forms the core of the trio.s repertoire. With great joy in experimentation and always on the lookout for suitable means of expression, the three musicians not only dedicate themselves to song duets originally composed for two higher voices, but also specifically seek out solo songs or entire song cycles in order to translate them into their own tonal language. The accordion as a breathing instrument, with its huge sound spectrum, is understood within the trio as a foundation, binding bow and third solo voice.

SPACE

In the trio.s idea, the concert space is at first sight a room without a visible stage. Spatial boundaries, often caused by a classical frontal stage-audience situation, are dissolved. Thus, closeness, small distances and the construction of spaces and situations by the audience determine the concert event. Planned changes of position of the concert-goers within a concert experience create again and again new spaces, new listening situations.
