Severade is the third chapter in Maxim Shalygin's macro-cycle for a lifetime S I M I L A R. Severade combines the words sever (Russian for 'north') and serenade: love songs for the North Sea. Shalygin blends the musical worlds of East and West – referring to different genres of singing, concert, romanticism and oratorio – and brings together the simplest and most complex: love and the inner world of man.
